| A denial of service vulnerability exists in the XML parsing of multiple versions of OpenNMS Meridian and Horizon. OpenNMS parsed XML without an effective limit on entity expansion. A document with a DOCTYPE that declares internal entities can expand to a very large value and exhaust the server memory. An authenticated user with provisioning access can supply such a document through a requisition or foreign-source import, which includes a remote requisition URL that the server fetches and parses. Both deeply nested entities and a single large entity referenced many times cause the memory exhaustion. The fix caps the number of entity expansions for all XML parsing and rejects any DOCTYPE in requisition and foreign-source XML. The solution is to upgrade to Meridian 2024.3.14, 2025.0.11, 2026.0.1 and Horizon 36.0.5 or newer. Meridian and Horizon installation instructions state that they are intended for installation within an organization's private networks and should not be directly accessible from the Internet. | ||||

| Cockpit's remote login feature passes user-supplied hostnames and usernames from the web interface to the SSH client without validation or sanitization. An attacker with network access to the Cockpit web service can craft a single HTTP request to the login endpoint that injects malicious SSH options or shell commands, achieving code execution on the Cockpit host without valid credentials. The injection occurs during the authentication flow before any credential verification takes place, meaning no login is required to exploit the vulnerability. | ||||

| undici is an HTTP client library for Node.js. In versions 7.15.0 through 7.30.0 and 8.0.0 through 8.12.1, its decompress interceptor forwards decompressed response data to the downstream handler from zlib stream event callbacks without catching exceptions those callbacks may throw, and while undici's engine converts a synchronous throw from a downstream handler into a per-request failure, that protection is absent when the throw happens asynchronously from a zlib callback. As a result, a downstream handler that throws by design, such as the built-in dump interceptor which throws when a response exceeds its configured maximum size, escapes as an uncaught exception that terminates the Node.js process. A malicious or compromised HTTP server can crash any client that composes the decompress interceptor with such a handler by returning a small compressed body that decompresses to more than the configured limit, so only the decompressed size matters and the bytes on the wire stay tiny. The issue is fixed in undici 7.30.1 and 8.12.2, and users should upgrade to one of those versions or later. As a workaround, avoid composing the decompress interceptor with a response handler that throws during response processing until upgrading. | ||||
