CVE-2026-97972 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-01 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: macb: put the "mdio" child node reference on success macb_mii_init() holds the reference returned by of_get_child_by_name() for macb_mdiobus_register() and drops it only on the error paths, so every successful probe leaks a node reference. On a CM5, overlay removal after four bind cycles reports OF: ERROR: memory leak, expected refcount 1 instead of 5 Drop the reference after registration, where __mdiobus_register() has already taken its own for the lifetime of the bus.
CVE-2026-98144 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: accel/amdxdna: put the chained BO when its mapping fails amdxdna_cmd_set_error() looks up the first BO of a command chain, which takes a reference, and drops it at the end of the function. The mapping of that BO is established in between, and the failure path returns without the put, so the reference is leaked. Ordinary use does not reach it. The chain has been submitted before any of this runs, so aie2_cmdlist_fill_slot() has already called amdxdna_cmd_get_op() on that BO and amdxdna_gem_vmap() has cached its address. What makes it reachable is that the BO is resolved again by handle here, and the handle is userspace's to recycle: closing it after submission and importing a dma-buf whose exporter implements no vmap onto the same id leaves amdxdna_gem_get_obj() returning an object this cannot map, since prime_import() types every import AMDXDNA_BO_SHARE.
CVE-2026-98120 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-25 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix subreq ref leak Fix a subrequest ref leak in netfs_unbuffered_write() in the event that subreq->io_iter ends up zero length during preparation.
CVE-2026-89944 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-24 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: hdac_hda: Fix hlink refcount leak on component registration failure hdac_hda_dev_probe() gets the HDA link with snd_hdac_ext_bus_link_get() before registering the ASoC component. If component registration fails, the function returns without dropping the link reference. Always call snd_hdac_ext_bus_link_put() after the registration attempt so the reference taken during probe is balanced on both success and failure.
CVE-2026-77860 1 Nlnetlabs 1 Unbound 2026-09-23 3.7 Low
In NLnetLabs Unbound 1.20.0 up to and including 1.26.0, a vulnerability on the 'serve-expired' code path can cause a double decrement on the 'wait-limit' counter per client IP essentially bypassing one of the counter measures that was introduced for DNSBomb (CVE-2024-33655). A malicious actor can exploit this by controlling an authoritative zone with short TTL, so cached entries expire quickly. Each 'slow' query, one the attacker's authoritative never answers, is followed by one query for an expired cached name, which is answered immediately via the 'serve-expired' path and decrements the counter twice. This second query was named 'pump'. By alternating slow queries and pumps, the attacker keeps the per-client counter at or below the configured 'wait-limit' indefinitely, and can hold an arbitrary number of pending queries from a single source IP, up to the global mesh quota (num-queries-per-thread); eventually bypassing one of the counter measures introduced for DNSBomb (CVE-2024-33655). This vulnerability is present on the 'serve-expired' code path.
CVE-2026-74735 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-21 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: l2tp: fix tunnel and session refcount leak on seq_file release In pppol2tp_proc_open() and l2tp_dfs_seq_open(), iteration state (pd->tunnel and pd->session) is kept in seq_file private data to allow iteration across multiple read() system calls. However, if userspace closes /proc/net/pppol2tp or /sys/kernel/debug/l2tp/tunnels before reading to end-of-file (EOF), any tunnel or session reference stored in pd->tunnel / pd->session is left un-dropped when seq_file private data is freed. Fix this by dropping any remaining pd->tunnel and pd->session references in pppol2tp_proc_release() and l2tp_dfs_seq_release() when closing the file.
CVE-2026-77587 1 Torproject 1 Tor 2026-09-21 5.9 Medium
Tor before 0.4.9.11 is prone to a use-after-free (and potential double free) of a conflux object when a recovery leg revives a conflux set whose last linked leg has already been closed. A malicious exit node could use this to crash a client. This is TROVE-2026-026.
CVE-2026-93136 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-20 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bus: mhi: ep: Fix device refcount leak in the error path of MHI device creation mhi_ep_create_device() takes one device reference for the UL channel and another for the DL channel after allocating the transfer device. These references are normally released by mhi_ep_destroy_device() before the device itself is removed. If dev_set_name() or device_add() fails, the error path currently drops only one reference. The remaining channel references keep the device from being released and leave the channels associated with a device that was never registered. Route both failures through a common unwind path that drops the DL channel reference, the UL channel reference, and the initial reference from device_initialize().
CVE-2026-89816 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-18 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm: Fix drm_crtc_commit leak if signaled when PAGE_FLIP_EVENT is used Commit 1c6ceeee6ebb ("drm/atomic: Fix memleak on ERESTARTSYS during non-blocking commits") fixed a very similar issue when the event was allocated by drm_atomic_helper_setup_commit() itself. However, if the event is allocated in prepare_signaling(), it will also be set to NULL in complete_signaling(), which prevents drm_crtc_commit from being put in __drm_atomic_helper_crtc_destroy_state(). Dropping the reference when the event is set to NULL at complete_signaling() fixes the leak. The leak can be reproduced by sending a signal to the thread using DRM_MODE_PAGE_FLIP_EVENT and using a sw_sync fence to cause the atomic ioctl to block at drm_atomic_helper_wait_for_fences(). It happened both with amdgpu and vkms.
CVE-2026-18149 2 Nodejs, Undici 2 Undici, Undici 2026-09-16 5.9 Medium
undici's retry handler can leave an already-exposed response body pending forever. When a server returns a successful response that declares a Content-Length, sends only part of the body, and closes the connection, the retry handler retries the request. If the retry returns a non-retryable status such as 400, the handler forwards that new response downstream and replaces its internal response stream, but the original response body that the application still holds is never ended or destroyed. As a result calls that read that body never settle, and the configured body timeout does not fire because its timer is tied to the connection parser rather than the orphaned body. An attacker-controlled server can trigger this with two short responses without keeping a connection open, and repeated requests accumulate pending promises and streams that can exhaust application concurrency or memory. This affects undici versions from 7.11.0 up to 7.29.1 and from 8.0.0 up to 8.10.2. Users should upgrade to undici 7.29.1 or 8.10.2.
CVE-2026-89735 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 4.4 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: midi2: remove default configfs groups on teardown f_midi2_alloc_inst() creates default configfs child groups for the default endpoint and default block using configfs_add_default_group(), setting their internal refcount to 1. However, during function teardown in f_midi2_free_inst() or EP cleanup in f_midi2_ep_opts_release(), configfs_remove_default_groups() is never called, therefore never dropping the refcount and leaking struct f_midi2_ep_opts and f_midi2_block_opts. Add the missing configfs_remove_default_groups() in the afformentioned functions to free the structs properly.
CVE-2026-89707 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 7.5 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: release path refs on follow_down() error nfsd_cross_mnt() initializes a local struct path with mntget() and dget() before calling follow_down(). On a negative return the error arm jumps to out without releasing those references: err = follow_down(&path, follow_flags); if (err < 0) goto out; follow_down() never drops the caller's entry-time refs on any error sub-case; for example a pre-cross d_manage() failure leaves path untouched, so the mntget()/dget() taken on entry survive the call. Every other early-exit arm in nfsd_cross_mnt() (other-namespace return, IS_ERR(exp2), and the success tail after the swap) already calls path_put(&path); the err < 0 arm is the lone omission. The leak inflates mnt_count and d_count on each failed cross-mount, blocking umount and pinning dentries against the shrinker, and is reachable by any authenticated NFS client through nfsd_lookup_dentry or the NFSv4 READDIR encode path. Fix by calling path_put(&path) before the goto out in the err < 0 arm so the entry-time refs are released on all follow_down() error returns.
CVE-2026-89697 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 9.1 Critical
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: add fh_want_write() for early-verified SETATTR in nfsd_proc_setattr() The BOTH_TIME_SET branch calls fh_verify() early so setattr_prepare() can inspect the dentry. This causes nfsd_setattr() to skip fh_want_write(), so notify_change() runs without a mount write reference. Add the missing fh_want_write() call after the early fh_verify().
CVE-2026-89576 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 4.4 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-era: fix shadowed superblock leak on take-snap failure metadata_take_snap() bumps the live superblock refcount and then dm_tm_shadow_block() allocates a new block for the metadata snapshot. If the subsequent dm_sm_inc_block() of writeset_tree_root or era_array_root fails, the function only unlocks the clone and returns. The newly allocated shadow block is never returned to the metadata space map, so each failed take-snap permanently leaks one metadata block. Free the clone with dm_sm_dec_block() on those error paths, matching the final step of metadata_drop_snap().
CVE-2026-89536 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 9.8 Critical
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: SUNRPC: wait for in-flight client TLS handshake callback xs_tls_handshake_sync() gives xs_tls_handshake_done() a reference to the lower transport before submitting the handshake request. On timeout or signal, the synchronous waiter drops that reference after calling tls_handshake_cancel(). handshake_req_cancel() returns false when handshake_complete() has already marked the request complete. In that case the completion callback can still be running, so dropping the callback-owned reference in the waiter can free the lower transport before xs_tls_handshake_done() stores xprt_err or drops its own reference. If cancellation loses to completion, wait until xs_tls_handshake_done() signals handshake_done and let the callback release its reference. This mirrors the server-side handshake lifetime handling and keeps the timeout or signal return value unchanged.
CVE-2026-80983 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 4.7 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/smc: fix socket refcount leak in smc_switch_conns() smc_switch_conns() takes a reference on the SMC socket before dropping lgr->conns_lock, so the connection stays alive while the CDC slot is fetched: sock_hold(&smc->sk); read_unlock_bh(&lgr->conns_lock); /* pre-fetch buffer outside of send_lock, might sleep */ rc = smc_cdc_get_free_slot(conn, to_lnk, &wr_buf, NULL, &pend); if (rc) goto err_out; The err_out label only drops the wr_tx link reference, so this early exit returns without the matching sock_put(). The second error exit is not affected, because sock_put() has already run by then. A leaked sk_refcnt means the smc_sock is never destroyed. Its send and receive buffers stay allocated, and for a user socket the reference held on the network namespace is never released, so the netns can no longer be torn down. smc_cdc_get_free_slot() fails when the target link goes down or when the connection has been killed while the switch is in progress. Both are reachable during the link failover this function implements, so the leak is triggered by the same hardware events that make smc_switch_conns() run in the first place. Restructure so there is a single sock_put() covering both outcomes, instead of adding a second one to the error path.
CVE-2026-64321 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme: target: rdma: fix ndev refcount leak on queue connect nvmet_rdma_queue_connect() calls nvmet_rdma_find_get_device() which acquires a reference on the returned ndev via kref_get(). On the path where the host queue backlog is exceeded and the function returns NVME_SC_CONNECT_CTRL_BUSY, reference of ndev is not released, leaking the kref. Fix this by adding a goto to the existing put_device label before the early return.
CVE-2026-53010 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 9.8 Critical
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix use-after-free in smb2_open during durable reconnect In smb2_open, the call to ksmbd_put_durable_fd(fp) drops the reference to the durable file descriptor early during the durable reconnect process. If an error occurs subsequently (eg, ksmbd_iov_pin_rsp fails) or a scavenger accesses the file, it leads to a use-after-free when accessing fp properties (eg fp->create_time). Move the single put to the end of the function below err_out2 so fp stays valid until smb2_open returns.
CVE-2026-46170 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: pm: ADD_ADDR rtx: free sk if last When an ADD_ADDR is retransmitted, the sk is held in sk_reset_timer(), and released at the end. If at that moment, it was the last reference being held, the sk would not be freed. sock_put() should then be called instead of __sock_put(). But that's not enough: if it is the last reference, sock_put() will call sk_free(), which will end up calling sk_stop_timer_sync() on the same timer, and waiting indefinitely to finish. So it is needed to mark that the timer is done at the end of the timer handler when it has not been rescheduled, not to call sk_stop_timer_sync() on "itself".
CVE-2026-46158 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: pm: ADD_ADDR rtx: always decrease sk refcount When an ADD_ADDR is retransmitted, the sk is held in sk_reset_timer(). It should then be released in all cases at the end. Some (unlikely) checks were returning directly instead of calling sock_put() to decrease the refcount. Jump to a new 'exit' label to call __sock_put() (which will become sock_put() in the next commit) to fix this potential leak. While at it, drop the '!msk' check which cannot happen because it is never reset, and explicitly mark the remaining one as "unlikely".
